we all "know" jc's are suppose to be private....so that the uniniated, innocent, can speak freely.
i say, uninitiated, because once you spill your guts and the elders use your embarassing, heart wrenching story as a lead off at their next get together/party, for a laugh, you have been initiated into your local brothers hall of fame.. so, are those jc's, really private?.
can you really talk privately, about your love of violent video games, masterbation, oral sex, shop lifting, doing drugs, or "doing" anything or anybody, and expect total confidentiality in the watch tower society elder world?.
On the whole, the elders I served with over the more than 10 years I was one, maintained confidentiality. With a couple very shocking, irritating exceptions.
The one I remember the most was a JW husband admitted to a homosexual encounter. For some reason the PO felt it was necessary to share this with the ENTIRE elder body of about 10 elders. WTF?
Looking back I wish I had called him out on this.

im not talking about simply being reinstated.
i remember hearing a story about a brother that was disfellowshipped because of the testimony of two false witnesses.
years passed before they admitted to lying about the brother and was reinstated.. what is policy in this sort of situation?
Concurring with AnneB and the others that "rescinded" is the official Service Dept term.
SF Bay Area, three elders decided to DF an inactive dude without him coming to a JC. They didn't follow Watchtower-approved procedures and just announced that "Brother Flaky is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses".
Brother Flaky heard about it through the grapevine and wrote the branch. About 4-5 months later, the same a$$hole who announced the DFing had to get up and say "The announcement that Brother Flaky is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses..........has been rescinded".
Hahahahahahah!
Most dubs just did double takes and said "What does that mean?"

hi there, as was suggested to me, i'm starting this thread to say hi to everyone.. my awakening began recently, after the new light on the 'slave'.
i felt it didn't add up and went to check and found out ttatt.
for a while i tried to find evidence of whether the wt might still be god's organization, i needn't say i couldn't.. i had already resigned as a ministerial servant and a pioneer, had already had several issues with the elders and did not put up with their nonsense for a long.

My wife and I no longer believe in a higher power. If a "higher power" decided to show him/her/it self and was also not a despot, I'd be all ears. But I don't think that's too likely.
Having said that, I have no desire to cram my lack of belief down anyone's throat. So, if you'd like to get together and enjoy good food, drink and conversation that doesn't require a belief in God, we're game. But I totally understand if you're more comfortable in the company of believers.
Here's something to chew on. Aguest, aka Shelby, is a BIG TIME believer. Her God talks to her on a regular basis. When I found out she was planning on attending Flipper's Lake Tahoe Apostafest last summer, I almost didn't go because I thought the "discomfort" level would be too high. Well, her online persona is quite a bit different than Shelby in the flesh. This atheist and Shelby got along just fine in person.

i still have all of them from '77 to '01, but would be interested in reading/acquiring the others from '01-current.
i would love to host them again, but this time from a computer that sits on an anonymous vpn.
I'd send a PM to Atlantis. He's constantly posting the latest BOE letters around here.

hello everyone, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.. i am a mid 30's just stepped aside elder, who just couldn't handle it anymore.. i am a 3rd generation born-in and former pioneer and bethelite.
it has been a log somewhat confusing ride for me, but i am finally settling in to realizing that i need to really look at what me and my family are doing.. .
its funny though what really got me here... it wasn't the 40 year old men telling me they were looking at boobies on the computer and hoping not to get in trouble, it wasn't the watching young people bail left and right, it wasn't the ever changing new light etc... but a simple thought.. .

some of them have rally helped me to understand and examine again my beliefs.. last new light concerning f&ds=gb has verified the idea that they are popes in the position op pope.. i still believe in god & in his son jesus christ but not in the gb..
